WiFi Tethering

If you device is having trouble finding a cellular connection, we can tether it to your mobile phone's hotspot to connect it to the internet. This will then allow you to enter your local WiFi credentials and have it pushed to the device.

Steps:

1.  Confirm that your mobile phone and carrier has ability to generate a “Personal Hotspot” or “Mobile Tethering”.

2.  Set-up your hotspot on your phone with the SSID and PW to 'Default WiFi Settings' found on the Configuration page or contact support for the required SSID and PW.

*** Do not use APT0C123456 / 1234ABCD5678EFGH which is only an example of the format of the SSID and PW. Your device will have a unique credential set. ***

Android

  • Set your phone's hotspot SSID Name to given (APT followed by your serial number)

  • Set your phone's hotspot Password to given (16 characters)

Apple iPhones

  • Your hotspot name is the same as the your phone name so you'll have to change your phone name to (APT followed by your serial number). Apple's official help page (Spanish).

3.  Restart Device by power cycling it and allow a few minutes for it to connect to the phone’s hotspot. Check the web console for connectivity. The device should be reporting during this time.

4.  Configure WiFi settings on console and allow a few minutes for it to push through. Allow device to report several datapoints for 5-10 minutes to confirm it's updated.

5. Turn off hotspot on phone. Device will switch to local WiFi. Power cycle again if necessary. It may take 15 minutes to visually update connection symbol on console.
