Candidate Portal Configuration - Quick Reference Guide

Frequently asked questions relating to the configuration of your website and Candidate Portal.

Written by Glenn Jones

The Candidate Portal is the public-facing part of your Eploy system. It is where candidates search for vacancies, create accounts, apply for roles, and track the progress of their applications.

Your Candidate Portal is set up and configured by the Eploy Website Implementation team as part of your onboarding. This guide covers the key things you need to know about getting your portal set up and managing it going forward.

What branding assets do I need to provide?

To get your Candidate Portal looking and feeling on-brand, we will need the following assets before work begins. During implementation, your implementation manager will confirm exactly what is needed. As a minimum, we will need:

  • A high-resolution logo file (PNG, SVG)

  • Your colour palette, ideally with hex colour codes - or your brand guidelines if you have them

  • Font files (TTF, OTF, or WOFF format). Alternatively, if your preferred font is available in the Google Fonts library, we can use that instead

How do I set up a subdomain for my Candidate Portal?

Your Eploy Candidate Portal can sit on a domain of your choice - typically a subdomain of your main website, such as careers.yourorganisation.co.uk. Setting up this subdomain is a task for your IT team - they will need to create the subdomain and add a CNAME record in your DNS settings, pointing it at your Eploy portal. The value for this CNAME record is unique to your account and will be provided by the Eploy implementation team.

If you are unsure how to add a DNS record, your domain registrar or IT team should be able to assist. For more detail on domains and DNS configuration, see our Domains article.

What about SSL certificates?

SSL is required for your Candidate Portal to run securely over HTTPS. By default, we provision an SSL certificate automatically using Let's Encrypt at no additional cost. If your organisation has its own SSL certificate that you would prefer to use, we can accommodate this. Please let your implementation manager know during the implementation process.

Does my Candidate Portal need a Google Maps API Key?

If you would like a vacancy map to appear on your Candidate Portal to display vacancy locations, you will need to provide a Google Maps API Key. This is obtained via the Google Cloud Console and will need to be set up by someone with access to your organisation's Google account.

For step-by-step guidance on setting up and configuring a Google Maps API Key for use with Eploy, see our Google Maps API Keys article.

Can I make changes to my Candidate Portal?

Some elements of your Candidate Portal can be managed directly within your Eploy system, without needing to go through your account manager. Before raising a request, it is worth checking with the Eploy Support team first - they may be able to point you in the right direction to make the change in your system.

If the change cannot be handled in the system, the Eploy Support team will escalate to your account manager, who can arrange for the design team to pick it up.

Can I add extra features or further customise my Candidate Portal?

Yes - beyond the standard portal, there are options to enhance and extend your Candidate Portal with additional branding, pages, and functionality. If you are interested in what is possible, speak to your account manager who will be happy to talk through the options.
