How to import training files to Equilab

Import GPX, TCX or FIT training files from apps like Strava or Garmin into Equilab on iPhone or Android. Premium only.

You can import a training file into Equilab, for example a training you recorded with another app or device, so it's saved together with your other trainings.

You can import files from apps like Strava or Garmin. Importing training files works on iPhone and Android, and it needs Equilab Premium:

⭐ This is a Premium feature. On the free plan, you can't import training files, but you can add trainings by hand as manual trainings. See Start Premium or a free trial.

Which training files you can import

Equilab imports training files in three formats:

  • GPX

  • TCX

  • FIT

GPX files exported from Garmin can't be imported. For a Garmin training, use a TCX or FIT file instead. Images, videos and other file types can't be imported.

Import a training file

To import a training file, have the file saved on your phone, then:

  1. Open Equilab and go to Profile > Settings.

  2. Tap Import tracking file.

  3. Tap Select a file.

  4. Choose the training file you want to import.

  5. Wait for the file to upload.

  6. Tap Import training.

  7. On the after-training screen, add or edit your training information, and trim the training if needed.

  8. Tap Save.

The training is now saved in Equilab with your other trainings.

What Equilab keeps from the file

A training imported from a file is saved with your other trainings and counts toward Records and Challenges. This is what Equilab keeps from the file:

  • Route, distance and time: kept from the file.

  • Gaits: not detected. An imported training has no walk, trot or canter data.

  • Horse and training type: not taken from the file. Choose them on the after-training screen when you import the file, or later with Edit. See Edit a saved ride.

If a training file won't import

If Equilab doesn't import your training file, check these in order:

  1. Check your Premium. Importing training files needs an active Premium subscription. See I paid, but Premium isn't showing.

  2. Check the file type. Only GPX, TCX and FIT files can be imported.

  3. Check where the GPX file comes from. GPX files exported from Garmin can't be imported. Export the training from Garmin as a TCX or FIT file and import that instead.

If you'd like to import your training data from Apple Health instead, please refer to our guide on How to import trainings from Apple Health to Equilab.

If you can't import a training, you can add it to Equilab by hand: see How to add a manual training.
