Overview
The TORRENT rows on the New Claim form capture data required for carriers that use the TORRENT claims-reporting system. These fields appear below the Flood section and collect loss-cause details, denial reasons, replacement cost methodology, flood control information, and water intrusion measurements. Adjusters working TORRENT-integrated claims must complete these fields before submitting a Final Report.
Loss Cause and Denial Codes
TORRENT Loss Cause — Select the TORRENT-specific cause of loss from the dropdown. This maps to TORRENT's internal loss-cause codes and must align with the loss description on the claim. Choose the option that most precisely matches the peril.
CWOP Reason (Building) — If the building portion of the claim is being closed without payment, select the reason from this dropdown. CWOP stands for "Closed Without Payment." Leave this field empty if a building payment is being made.
CWOP Reason (Contents) — If the contents portion of the claim is being closed without payment, select the applicable reason from this dropdown. Leave empty if a contents payment is being made.
Replacement Cost Basis
TORRENT Replacement Cost Basis — Select the methodology used to determine the replacement cost value from the dropdown. This tells TORRENT how the RCV was calculated (for example, using a third-party estimating tool, actual contractor bids, or another accepted method).
Flood Control Measures
A series of Yes/No radio-button questions ask whether flood control measures were in place at the time of the loss. Answer each question based on the adjuster's field inspection. These questions help TORRENT assess whether mitigation efforts were present and may influence claim processing.
Water Entry and Recession
Date Water Entered — Enter the date and time that floodwater first entered the insured structure. Both the date picker and a time field are available for precision.
Date Water Receded — Enter the date and time that floodwater fully receded from the structure. Combined with the entry date, this establishes the duration of inundation.
Time Water Remained — Evolve calculates or allows you to enter the total duration that water was present inside the structure, expressed as Days and Hours. This measurement is a required TORRENT field for flood claims.
Water Depth Measurements
Water depth fields capture how deep the floodwater was inside and outside the structure. There are four measurement points:
Interior Water Depth (Main) — The maximum depth of water inside the main structure, measured from the lowest finished floor.
Interior Water Depth (Appurtenant) — The maximum depth of water inside any appurtenant structure (for example, a detached garage or storage building).
Exterior Water Depth (Main) — The maximum depth of water on the outside of the main structure, measured from grade level.
Exterior Water Depth (Appurtenant) — The maximum depth of water outside any appurtenant structure.
Record all depth values in the units indicated on the form (typically inches or feet). Accurate depth measurements are essential for TORRENT's damage assessment calculations.
Relationship to the Financial Grid
The TORRENT rows work in tandem with the Financial section on the claim form. Financial figures — including Reserve, RCV, ACV, Gross Loss, and Covered Damage — must be populated before you can send a Final Report to TORRENT. See TORRENT Integration for end-to-end setup and reporting instructions.
Tips
These fields are only required for claims processed through the TORRENT system. If your carrier does not use TORRENT, you can skip this section.
Double-check the TORRENT Loss Cause against the claim's Type of Loss field to make sure they are consistent.
Water entry and recession times should come from the adjuster's field notes or the insured's statement — estimate only when no documentation is available.
All TORRENT fields, plus the Financial grid values, must be complete before Evolve will allow the Final Report submission to TORRENT.
