Exerta connects to your Facebook and Instagram accounts through Meta. Once connected, you create rules that tell Exerta what to do when a comment comes in.
Every rule has three parts:

Rules run automatically once activated. You can have multiple rules running at the same time as long as Processing Mode is set to Advanced in Settings > Config.
š Getting started
Here's the recommended order for new accounts:
1. Connect your Meta account
Link your Facebook pages, ad accounts, and Instagram accounts to Exerta. Nothing works until this step is complete.
2. Set up your first hide rule
Hide negative, spam, and toxic comments automatically. This is the fastest rule to set up and delivers immediate value.
3. Set up offers
Before your rules can send links, you need an offer set up with your campaign URL. Your Exerta team will help configure the AI Context for each offer. Contact your Exerta team to set up offers.
4. Set up a custom domain
Replace the default Exerta tracking link with your own branded domain so links look like they come from your business.
5. Set up reply and DM rules
Once your offers are ready, set up rules to reply to comments and send DMs to interested commenters. You can use predefined replies or an AI agent.

š Q: What platforms does Exerta work with?
Exerta works with Facebook and Instagram. Rules are set up separately for each platform. An Instagram rule will not catch Facebook comments, and vice versa.
š Q: Do I need an AI agent to use Exerta?
No. Hide rules work without an agent. Reply and DM rules can also use predefined (stock) replies that you write yourself, with no agent required. An AI agent is only needed if you want dynamic, contextual responses generated automatically. AI agents are built and managed by the Exerta team.
š Q: Where do I start if I'm a new user?
Start by connecting your Meta account, then set up a hide rule for negative comments. That takes under a minute and starts protecting your comment sections immediately. From there, your Exerta team will walk you through offers, reply rules, and DM rules in the order that makes sense for your setup.
š Q: What is Processing Mode and why does it matter?
Processing Mode controls how many rules can fire on a single comment. Set it to Advanced in Settings > Config before creating any rules.
In Advanced mode, multiple rules can fire on the same comment, so a comment can be hidden and also trigger a DM. In Standard mode, only the first matching rule fires, and the rest are skipped.
š Q: What are sentiment labels?
Sentiment labels are how Exerta classifies incoming comments. There are four: Positive, Interested, Neutral, and Negative. You use these labels when setting up rules to control which types of comments trigger an action.
š Q: Can Exerta send both a comment reply and a DM for the same comment?
Yes. If Processing Mode is set to Advanced, both a comment reply rule and a DM rule can fire on the same comment. This is a common setup: the comment reply sends a short acknowledgment, and the DM sends a promo link privately.
