Inventory not tracked. Explaining why you see this in Shopify when you create a product with your bundles.

Updated over 5 months ago

When you make a product from a bundle (known as a Bundle as A Product), you may see "Inventory not tracked" in Shopify for the product created

We'll explain why this is.

Multi-BAP:

There are two types of settings for the Bundle as A Product. Single-BAP, and Multi-BAP.

If the bundle is not a simple bundle or if you have set it to be added to the cart as included products, like the image below, you have what we call a Multi-BAP which is what you have created.

The Multi-BAP is a dummy product

When you have a Multi-BAP, the product created in Shopify is a placeholder product or a dummy product that will not actually ever be added to the cart and bought.
Instead, the individual products in the bundle will be added to the cart and placed on the order.

Don't worry! The inventory of items in the bundle is tracked.

Since the actual products are getting added to the cart, the inventory of the individual items will be correctly updated. However, the inventory of the Multi-BAP itself cannot be tracked.

That's why you see the "Inventory not tracked" in front of the bundle as a product name with the mentioned settings above in the Shopify panel > Products.

So to sum up, you can be sure that the inventory of the products in the bundle will be automatically and correctly handled. If you encounter any issues, contact support.
