How Joining Fernwayer Works

FOR EXPERIENCE MAKERS: A curated marketplace, joined through conversation.

Fernwayer is a curated marketplace, and joining is a collaborative process.

It's less an application and more an exploration of fit — on both sides.

Most Experience Makers who partner with Fernwayer come from our own research and outreach. We also welcome Experience Makers who find us on their own. Anyone can sign up on fernwayer.com and send us a message via Contact Us to set up a meeting.

The two paths in

Fernwayer reaches out. Most Experience Makers on our platform come to us through our research and outreach. We look for people with real mastery in one or more areas of expertise, deep ties to a place, and the ability to offer perspective — not just access. Exceptional people usually lead us to other exceptional people, so over time the network grows through trust and connections.

You reach out to us. You can sign up as an Experience Maker on fernwayer.com. You can, of course, also submit an Experience for us to review. We encourage you, however, to first reach out for a conversation to confirm mutual fit before you spend a lot of time writing up an experience.

From there, the process is the same: a member of the Fernwayer team will read what you've shared and reach out to explore whether there might be a fit.

Either way, the next step is a conversation.

What happens during the conversation

  1. We reach out to arrange a video conversation — usually within a week of first contact.

  2. The conversation is exploratory, not evaluative. We're looking for mutual fit: whether your Experience, your voice, and our platform are right for each other.

  3. If there's alignment, we start shaping the Experience together — often over conversations and email, with editorial refinement along the way.

  4. Once we've co-created something we're both happy with, you submit the Experience for final review and approval.

The timeline varies. A straightforward fit can go from first conversation to publish in a few weeks. More complex Experiences can take longer.

What we typically don't feature

Some Experiences aren't a natural fit for Fernwayer, regardless of the quality of the Experience Maker. Being upfront about these helps everyone save time.

  • Multi-day Experiences with accommodation. Fernwayer focuses on day tours and experiences of a few hours to a full day. The only exception is when the overnight itself is essential to the Experience — for example, a two-day trek to summit a mountain that requires overnight camping.

  • On-demand or request-based bookings. Every Fernwayer Experience is instantly bookable. We don't offer availability-on-request models. You maintain updated calendars.

  • API-synced listings. Fernwayer Experiences are managed directly on our platform. We don't sync calendars with OTA managers like Regiondo, or integrate with other reservation systems.

  • Duplicates of what you already sell elsewhere. Fernwayer isn't a distribution channel. Each Experience on our platform is distinct from what you may offer on other platforms or your own site. If you already sell tours through other channels, we'll explore with you what could make a Fernwayer Experience meaningfully different — a new concept, a Private version with special inclusions, a different route, deeper access, or an angle you haven't developed elsewhere.

What we bring

The collaboration on our side goes beyond curation:

  • We think together with you about how the Experience fits within our wider portfolio. We are happy to brainstorm, dialogue and debate to find the best, more creative and enjoyable experiences that leverage your strengths.

  • We work with you on how the day itself unfolds — pacing, arc, transitions.

  • We do editorial work on how the Experience is written up for travelers, so it can be discovered and understood.

When it's not a fit

Sometimes the conversation reveals that Fernwayer isn't the right home for a particular Experience Maker or Experience — because the format doesn't fit, the approach differs, or the timing isn't right. That's okay. When it happens, we say so honestly.

If Fernwayer is right for you, the conversation itself will make that clear.
