Every Fernwayer Experience is built around the person leading it — their knowledge, their point of view, and the place they know best.
Here's what that means in practice.
Rare
Access, insight, or context you couldn't find on your own — a festival that belongs to the community, an after-hours visit, a photographer's own route, an archaeologist's reading of the ruins.
Designed, not scripted
The stops, the food, the moments of rare access are chosen deliberately — that's what you're booking. But the day isn't rehearsed. There's no script and no formula. What holds it together is the Experience Maker: their knowledge, their point of view, and the place and community they know well. They'll adjust the pace and depth to the day; what they won't do is skip a listed stop or drop an inclusion. The framework is the promise; how they move within it is their craft.
Story-rich
A Fernwayer Experience isn't a lecture. It's real conversation, not commentary — an Experience Maker who tells you what they think, what they notice, what they love, and what they find difficult.
If there's no story to tell, it isn't a Fernwayer Experience.
Private and intimate
Over 95% of Experiences are privately bookable, with group sizes between two and eight — just you and your companions.
A very small number of experiences are available on a shared basis with a limited group. Either way, you're not joining a crowd.
Wallet-free on the day
Tickets, food and drinks as listed, the guide fee and tip, and any essential transport are all included in the price you pay upfront. Fernwayer is a non-tipping marketplace — so once you arrive, there's no money changing hands and no calculation running in the background. You're a guest from the moment you arrive, received rather than served.
Bookable instantly
Like a flight or a restaurant — no request-and-wait. Availability is open up to a year in advance.
A few hours to a full day
Most Experiences run from a few hours to a full day, designed to anchor a day of your trip rather than replace it — so the rest of your time stays your own. A Fernwayer Experience is never a multi-day stay with accommodation, unless an overnight is essential to the Experience itself.
