Your profile is the human at the heart of your Experience. It's where the "Fernwayer Experience Maker" becomes a specific person — with a name, a face, a location, and a story rooted in real knowledge, a real point of view, and a deep connection to a place.
Your profile represents you as an individual
Every Experience on Fernwayer features one — or at most two — named individuals as the Experience Maker. These are the real people who lead, host, and are accountable for the Experience. Their names appear publicly and remain consistent over time.
This is a deliberate choice, for two reasons:
Human connection. Travelers come to Fernwayer to meet with a real person, hear a story, and see a place through their eyes. A name, a face, and a story create trust, warmth, and emotional clarity in a way that a collective, company, or brand cannot.
Accountability. The named individual is the primary point of contact for their Experience — reachable for the listing itself, responsible for ensuring calendar availability for the experiences, involved in communication with Travelers, and accountable for delivery on the day.
Because of this, we don't share company names, brand affiliations, or the other platforms you may work with on your profile.
If you work as part of a company, cooperative, or larger organization, that context can be minimally included in the Who is the host? section of your Experience listing — describing the setup without making it about the company.
You may be a small business owner with a small group of guides, and the hosts on the day may be different people. The Experience Maker name still needs to be one named individual.
We know this model won't fit every Experience Maker. If your work depends on collective visibility or third-party branding, we may not be the right platform for you — and we say so honestly when it comes up.
What Travelers see on your profile
The public-facing parts of your profile are:
Your photo — a clear, well-lit portrait where you look like yourself. Partially covered faces, or photos of you with a very large group, aren't ideal. If two people are named on the profile, upload a photo that shows both of you.
Your name — first and last. If two people are named, put one name in the first-name field and the other in the last-name field.
Your location — the city and country you're based in.
Your bio — your story, your expertise in one or more areas, your point of view.
Everything else — company name, contact details, social handles — is for our internal use only, and is never shown to Travelers.
A bio that reflects your knowledge, your point of view, and your connection to place
Your bio is where a Traveler decides whether they want to spend a morning, an afternoon, or a full day with you. Lead with what makes you distinctly you — your expertise, your roots, and the perspective only you can bring.
A few things to keep in mind:
Written in the third person — it's how your bio will appear on your profile.
Lead with your expertise and the roots that tie you to a place. This is what Travelers are looking for.
Share your story and your point of view. These are what will stay with a Traveler long after the Experience is over.
Don't include company names, other platforms you sell on, or external URLs.
Use the character limit wisely — every sentence should earn its place. The limit is 1,000 characters.
Your bio is editorial — we work with you on the final version as part of approving your first Experience, to make sure the voice is consistent across the platform.
How to update your profile

Keeping your contact information current
A few internal fields matter for platform operations:
Email. This is where booking notifications are sent — and it must match the email on your Stripe account for payouts to work smoothly.
Additional email. Optional — useful if you'd like booking notifications sent to more than one address.
Phone number. Never shared publicly, but kept on file so we can reach you in emergencies.
If any of these change, update your profile right away.
