Here we are looking at the FIFINE AmpliGame AM8 microphone, which supports USB and XLR connections, to check the difference in audio quality between USB and XLR.

First comes the USB one, and it’s straight raw audio with no enhancements (0:10-0:20). Next, it’s the XLR connection with an external audio interface through the XLR cable (0:21-0:31).

What makes the difference is the analog-to-digital converter, which is the built-in sound card of the AM8 and the external one when the AM8 is connected via an XLR cable. With that basis, if you pair the mic up with a top-class external interface, the audio of the XLR connection will beat that of USB out of the water.
