What this article covers
The Year-end setting (Setup → Admin → Year-end): marking, per entity, the general ledger account(s) on which your administration books the year-end result manually. Finstack then hides these GLAs from Reporting and excludes them from Mapping — all entries on a marked ledger are excluded from the P&L.
This article does NOT cover
Finstack's reserved system classes Current year earnings and Retained earnings — these are generated automatically to connect your P&L to the Balance Sheet, and require no configuration. See Structure.
Your ERP's standard year-end closing entries — for example Exact Online's standard year-end closing. Finstack recognises these automatically; no setting needed.
The Result of participations accounts (resultaat deelnemingen) in holding entities — these are intercompany accounts that should be eliminated, not marked as year-end accounts. See Consolidation and intercompany eliminations: overview.
Why is this needed?
Finstack calculates the result automatically and posts it to the Balance Sheet via the reserved system classes Current year earnings and Retained earnings (see Structure).
If your administration also books the result on a P&L account — a manual year-end closing entry — that booking would distort the P&L in Finstack: the result would effectively be counted twice. Marking the account as a year-end account excludes it, so Finstack's automatic result calculation remains the single source.
When do I need to configure this?
Only when your administration books the year-end result manually on a dedicated GLA, instead of using your ERP's standard year-end closing. Two notes:
Exact Online's standard year-end closing is recognised by Finstack automatically — no configuration needed.
AFAS: not applicable.
Also configure the account here if it is included in a file upload (Sources), since uploads have no standard year-end entry type.
How do I configure a year-end account?
Go to Setup → Admin → Year-end.
Per entity, select the year-end account(s). Only P&L accounts can be selected.
Done — the marked GLAs are hidden from Reporting and excluded from Mapping. They no longer appear in your unmapped accounts list.
Does this also work when the result is booked monthly?
Yes. Once a ledger is marked as a year-end account, all entries on that ledger are excluded from the P&L — regardless of whether the result is booked yearly or monthly.
Why does my result / retained earnings GLA show as unmapped?
If the GLA containing your manual result bookings appears as unmapped in Setup → Mapping, don't map it — that would double-count the result. Mark it as a year-end account instead (see above); it then disappears from the unmapped list.
