⚖️ Nanowrimo Day 6: Onward to the debate

What to write for NaNoWriMo today, based on the classic 3-act story structure.

Updated over a year ago

This week, you're taking your characters from their current day-to-day life to their decision to go after their external goal.

What to write today

Today, you're writing the debate [8335–10,000 words]:

  • Ultimately they will have no choice, but your protagonist may fight against the inciting incident, and decline the call to adventure.

  • Present how this event impacts the protagonist and why they must step into action.

  • Present how the event challenges your protagonist's internal conflict.

Want a different sort of prompt? Have a character spend far too long deciding on a sandwich. 🥪

Update your running editorial note

At the end of the day make a note of any off-course deviations, potential inconsistencies, areas to research further, or moments of inspiration to revisit when you edit in December/January.
