What to write for NaNoWriMo today, based on the classic 3-act story structure.

Updated over a year ago

This week, your characters are at rock bottom and you have to put them back together again.

What to write today

Today you start writing the finale [40,000–41,675 words words]. Make sure you:

  • Gather the team for the final battle.

  • The stakes need to be at their highest. The consequences of failure need to be very clear.

  • How are they going to overcome the strength of the antagonist now that they know its full extent?

  • Show what your protagonist has learned, and how they have grown. How are they going to use this to overcome the antagonist?

Want a different sort of prompt? Someone is caught in a bald-faced lie. 🕵️‍♀️

Update your running editorial note

At the end of the day make a note of any off-course deviations, potential inconsistencies, areas to research further, or moments of inspiration to revisit when you edit in December/January.
