Get ready to put those gloves up!

So you've read the intro to our Box studio, but want to know more about what to expect when loading up a class? Well, look no further.

Right now we offer three different formats of Box class: Velocity, Vibe, and Knockout. Each format has a different structure, and will challenge you in different ways, but the scoring for each will work the same (more on that after the class descriptions).

Class Formats

Knockout

These classes are all designed with a real boxing match in mind. You'll be practicing offensive and defensive drills, then putting the pair together to get that real fight feel. Ducking and weaving, then taking that perfect opportunity to throw a combo of your own.

Your trainer is going to be in your corner every step of the way here, spurring you on with encouragement from outside the ring.

Vibe

Vibe workouts focus on creating an experience that is more about the feel of the music, and the flow of the class. Let the rhythm take over as you sync your swings to the beat, throwing repeating combos through the choruses and swinging hard for those big drops.

Velocity

These workouts are all about building intensity through the class, making your way towards the big finish. They come in a few different flavours, but you'll feel an overall theme of turning up the heat the deeper you get into the class.

Look out for familiar combos being explained at the beginning of your class, coming back around faster toward the end to test your pace.

How do you score FitXR points in Box?

Form

Just before we explain the scoring, it's important for us to say that although the points are a great motivator, correct form is the key to getting the most from your workouts. If you have commentary enabled, your trainer will be giving you helpful tips on this as you make your way through the workout. And if you ever need a refresher, you can view the Box tutorial at any time in the ‘Help’ section on the home screen.

Points

Now, for the points. While you’re working out, you’ll score points based on:

  • Accuracy and speed

  • Successfully manoeuvred squats, slips and blocks

  • Best consecutive streak

And in newer classes, you'll get bonus points for Power Strikes.

Accuracy and Speed

Providing you're hitting the white section of each target (whether that's straight on for jabs and crosses, or the sides and bottom for hooks and uppercuts) - the faster your punch is, the more points you get. We take the speed of your accurate punch and multiply that by 100 to get your score.

As an example: The top speed you can hit a target at in FitXR is 10 meters per second (m/s), so each time you hit a target at this speed, you'll receive the maximum 1000 points.

Successfully maneuver squats, slip and blocks

Successful squats, slips and blocks will count towards your streak. If you're not successful on these then it'll break your streak, but we've removed the point penalty from this.

Best Streak

At the end of your Box class, your highest consecutive streak will be multiplied by 100 and added to your score as bonus points. You'll see this streak shown in front of you on the left while you're working out, and also next to your name on the Leaderboard on the right.

For Example: If you finish a workout with a streak of 350, then when you reach the Results screen you'll be granted 35000 bonus points (350 x 100) on top of your workout score. Final leaderboard positions will be your workout score + your streak bonus.

Power Strikes

In our newer Box classes, you'll also be given Power Strikes to boost your score further. These special glowing cues will grant bonus points depending on how hard you strike them - more power means higher score.
