You’ve got the basics from our What is Dance article, but you’re looking for a breakdown of what to expect in a Dance class? Look no further we’ve got you covered below.

The Dance studio is a truly immersive experience, all set to epic music that really you to move your body.

What are the benefits of Dance?

Dancing is a great form of aerobic exercise. And not only does it kick start your metabolism and pump up your endorphins, it’s also a fantastic way to improve coordination, and even social skills.

How do I score points, and level up?

In every Dance workout, you'll gain FitXR points which will allow you to level up and move up the leaderboard. You'll receive these points for:

  • Following the trainer

  • Exaggerating your movements

  • Your highest Dance Streak at the end of the class

Follow the trainer

The points system for each dance class is based on how well you match your trainers' moves. This is tracked via both of your controllers and the direction they move in. Each hand is tracked to see how closely the trainer is followed, and this will then determine the grade and number of points you receive.

  • If your 80+% of your movements match the trainer, then you'll receive an Awesome grade

  • If 60-80% match, you'll receive a Good grade

  • If 30-60% match, you'll receive an OK grade

  • If 0-30% match, you'll receive an Almost grade.

Exaggerate your movements

Once you've received your grade for each move, the points scored will then be multiplied by a bonus score which is determined by how energetic your movements are. This means the more you exaggerate your movements while following the trainer, the more FitXR points you receive.

Dance streaks

Each time you receive multiple Awesome grades in a row, these will be added to your Dance Streak. At the end of each workout, we'll times your longest dance streak by a bonus multiplier and this will be added to the end of your score.

At the end of the workout you’ll be able to see how well you’ve scored against other players on the leaderboard. You'll also be able to see your final score and the number of calories burned on your dashboard, so you can really see how hard you've worked!
