You can now add an optional warm up or cooldown session to your workouts!
Warming up before a fitness session, and cooling down once you're done, are super important to get the most from your workout.
A warmup gradually raises your body temperature and increases blood flow to your muscles, meaning you'll be ready from the first beat of your workout. Warming up may also lessen your risk of injury.
Then, once you've finished your workout, cooling down allows for a gradual recovery to your pre-exercise heart rate and blood pressure. It also helps reduce muscle soreness.
Each of the Warm Up & Cool Down sessions last between two and three minutes, and will take place solo, with minimal distraction. They've all been produced by our fitness professionals to provide maximum benefit to your workout.
How to add a Warm Up or Cool Down to your workout
There are two ways to include a warm up or cooldown in your session: Bookend and Standalone.
Bookend
Bookending just means to attach a Warm Up session before the class you want to take, or a Cool Down session after it. We offer these as toggle options on your Home View (for Warm Up) and the Results screen (for Cool Down), just like in the screenshots below.
When you Bookend, your Warm Up or Cool Down will happen in the same environment you selected for your workout with the same trainer from your class. However, for some of our older classes, you may be paired with an alternative trainer.
We'll also match the type of warm up to the class you've selected. So if you've chosen to warm up before a Box class, we'll prep you for Box as part of your Warm Up.
Standalone
You can also just pick a Warm Up or Cooldown class on their own from the Home View. When you do this, the trainer will be shown in the class tile and you can pick the environment in which youโd like to workout.
From the Home View, Warm Up and Cool Down have been added as Studio filters - so you can find all of them quickly and easily.
Can I Warm Up or Cooldown with friends?
Right now, Warm and Cool Down sessions are not available in Multiplayer mode, but it's something we may look to add further down the line.
