Taking screenshots and videos on Pico πŸ“Ή

Our support team will sometimes direct you here to help investigate what you're seeing in your Pico headset. If you're using a Meta device, we have a separate article for that which can be found here.

Media capture button on your Pico controller

On the right hand controller of your Pico device you'll find a dedicated capture button. This will have a camera icon on it, and is positioned next to the purple Pico button (as shown in the image below).

To take a screenshot

All you have to do is give this button a single, short press. That will then take an immediate capture of whatever you're looking at in your headset.

This is useful for capturing a quick snapshot of bugs or issues that aren't movement based (for example, if text is appearing incorrectly on a menu).

To take a video

Using the same button, all you have to do is press and hold for a few seconds. On screen in your device you'll then be given a prompt to say that your device is now recording your perspective. To stop the recording, you just need to press and hold the button again.

We may ask you to do this if the issue you're experiencing has a moving element to it (like cues not appearing at the correct height, or not breaking as you expect them to).

Sharing your media

The easiest way to do this is by opening the Pico VR mobile app while your Pico headset is still turned on, and syncing your captured media between the two. For images this happens pretty much instantly (depending on the strength of your internet connection), for videos this can take a couple of minutes - the longer the video, the longer it will take.

Once you've synced your media, you can then either save the files directly to your mobile device, or you can opt to share the images/videos from the Pico app itself (including sharing them to your email app to send to us).

Alternatively you can plug your device into a PC

If you're not able to sync your media to your phone, you can always plug your Pico device into a PC using a usb-c cable. Once connected, you'll need to open up the device storage and search for the media you've captured.
