Putting all your RUC licenses into Fleetpin makes claiming back your off-road RUC refund a breeze - but who's got the time? We've made it faster and easier.
Our new RUC Scanner allows you to use your mobile phone camera to scan your RUC licenses and automatically import them to your Fleetpin account.
There are a couple of ways to use the RUC Scanner:
1. Mobile App - Asset View
This method allows you to bulk add your licenses without having to navigate to each asset individually.
Within the Asset View, look for the three vertical dots in the top right corner. Clicking this button will open a drop down, select 'Scan RUC label'.
This will open a pop-up, on your first try it will ask for permission to use your camera, accept the request. Then simply put your RUC license in the frame and it will capture it automatically.
If the RUC license is already up-to-date, it will update any missing information.
If the license does not have a REGO that matches with an existing asset, you will see an error. See method 2 to upload licenses without a corresponding REGO.
2. Mobile App - within specific Assets
Select your chosen asset, scroll down to the RUC section, to the right you should see 'Scan' - follow the same process as Method 1.
Even if the REGO on the license doesn't match the assets', you will get a pop-up asking if you are happy to continue anyway, allowing you to override it.
3. Desktop App
You can also use the RUC Scanner on your desktop with your computer's camera. You will find the RUC Scanner in the same place within the Asset View:

Make sure your Fleetpin mobile app is up-to-date, the app icon should look like this:
The 'Scan' button will only be displayed if your desktop has a webcam.
NZTA temporary licenses sent in early 2024 have faulty barcodes and will not be read by the RUC scanner.
This feature is currently in beta, as the large range of phone cameras on the market means we cannot guarantee that the scanner will work with every phone. We are working on supporting more camera types for the RUC scanner.
If your phone has an ultra wide camera, it may use this by default, which can distort the barcode and make it unreadable. If you're unable to scan the RUC license, you can switch to another available camera using the selector shown below.
