What is sell-through rate and how do I improve it?

Written by Shane Jordan

Sell-through rate (STR) measures how quickly your listed items are selling as a percentage. A higher sell-through rate means your inventory is moving faster.

How It's Calculated

Sell-Through Rate = (Items Sold / Items Listed) x 100

For example, if you have 100 listed items and sell 30 in a month, your sell-through rate is 30%.

Where to Find It

sell through rate

  • On the Home dashboard as a summary metric

  • In the Reports tab with historical trends

  • In the Category Breakdown to see STR by item type

How to Improve Your Sell-Through Rate

  • Price competitively -- Use Price Comparison to check market rates

  • Take better photos -- Clear, well-lit photos sell items faster

  • Write detailed titles -- Include brand, size, color, and condition

  • Cross-list -- Post items on multiple platforms for more visibility

  • Reprice regularly -- Lower prices on items that haven't sold in 30+ days

  • Source better -- Focus on categories with historically higher STR

Good to Know

  • A "good" sell-through rate varies by category, but 20-30%+ monthly is solid for most resellers

  • Track STR over time to see if your sourcing and pricing strategies are improving

  • The Death Pile counter is related -- items sitting too long hurt your STR
