Use SNAP benefits

Updated over 8 months ago

SNAP EBT card can be added to a member's account for use with other forms of payment and incentives

  • Members must add a credit or debit card to make purchases, EVEN IF FreshFunds or EBT will fully cover the total.

  • Members can adjust how much of their SNAP benefits will be used in an order and can set it as low as $0.

  • SNAP benefits will be used PRIOR to Foodsmart Bucks (Fresh Funds) per Instacart policy, unless that amount is limited at checkout by the member.

Not allowing patients to click “continue” after selecting SNAP and Foodsmart Bucks (Fresh Funds) as payment method:

Members MUST have an alternate form of payment entered in their Instacart account, even if they never plan to use it toward their order per Instacart.

  • If they do not own an active credit or debit card and they are a County Care member, they can use their County Care Card (OTC) as a form of payment.

    • It has to have a balance to cover any charges that are NOT covered by Foodsmart Bucks.

  • Members can choose to use $0 of SNAP benefits and MUST notate it by clicking on SNAP in the payments section of checkout to add how much can be used. If they do NOT limit SNAP, that benefit will be used first per Instacart policy.
