How do you receive/redeem/use Foodsmart Bucks

When and how do patients receive their Grocery Money?

Foodsmart Bucks will appear on the member’s Foodsmart.com account within 48 hours after their RD visit has been completed and the RD has checked out the visit. If the RD does not check out of an appointment, an incentive will NOT be released.

How to grant Foodsmart Bucks DURING a visit?

  1. Start the Visit: To begin the process, you must first start the scheduled visit.

  2. Timing is Key: About 15 minutes into the visit, a notification will appear to grant the member their Foodsmart Bucks.

3. Granting the Bucks: Look for the "Foodsmart Bucks available" notification in the upper right corner of the screen.

4. Activation: Click on the "Grant Foodsmart Bucks" button within the notification to activate the reward for the member.

5. Review the history of the past and current Foodsmart Bucks codes

Where are Foodsmart Bucks sent?

Members will receive their Foodsmart Bucks on their Foodsmart.com account within 48 hours of their completed appointment being closed out by the RD.

How do members redeem their Foodsmart Bucks (Fresh Funds)?

  • Go to Foodsmart Login. Please note that the patient portal isn’t available through the app.

  • Enter (enter the member’s email and/or phone number), then click “Sign In.”

  • Enter your password and click “Sign In.” If you’ve forgotten your password, you can reset it by clicking “Forgot Password.”

  • Your incentive rewards will appear on your home page, just above your scheduled appointments.

  • Click the link on their Foodsmart.com account. It takes them to a page where their code pre-populates and it can be claimed/redeemed.

  • Select “redeem” to add funds to their Instacart account. If they do not have an account, they will be asked to create one.

**They cannot copy/paste or manually enter them in the promo section of Instacart. This will invalidate the code. The links and prompts HAVE to be used. Please see the picture below.

If a member tries to redeem a code that has already been redeemed, they will get this error message below.

To ensure that the member is using their Foodsmart Bucks in an order, they need to check the box in the Pay with section.

Once you click on the +, it will give you all the options on how to pay, including using Fresh Funds.

Make sure the Fresh Funds box is checked. This will allow the Fresh Funds to be used in the order.

Where can we see Foodsmart Bucks history? What is the Foodsmart Wallet?

To access this section in FFD, click on “Details” under Foodsmart Wallet under Member Information on the left hand side of the chart.

What information can we see?

  • Date incentives are claimed by member

  • Date/amount of incentives spent

  • Current balance

  • Total earned

  • Total spent

How much of the appointment has to be completed prior to receiving Foodsmart Bucks?

Foodsmart Bucks are given based on a status of "checked out," not length of appointment, but it should be communicated to the member that they only get the Foodsmart Bucks if they complete a one hour appointment to motivate them to stay for the full length. That being said, if they left early, they would still get it. But please try to get them to stay for the full 53 minutes so they can get the full value of the appointment
