Introduction

Your platform makes up all sections where people can view, purchase, and access your product offerings. The design and feel of your platform are determined by what customization options and preferences you set on the Platform Customization page.

When you've signed up for Forento and created your platform it consists of a few core pages. First of all, there's a sign-up page where anyone can create an account and a log-in page where those who already have an account can sign in. Other than that, there are also some basic pages attached, such as the settings & account view for signed-in members.

More pages will be added to your platform as you publish new products. For example, the "app.example.com/downloadables" page won't show up until you've published your first downloadable, (which you can do here if you'd like 😊)

Tip: You'll find a link to your platform on your Forento Dashboard. If you have a Forento website, the link for that will be displayed there too.

Customizing your platform

When customizing your platform, there are a handful of options and preferences to set. Listed below are the different sections on the Platform Customization page and what function each has.

Name

The name of your platform will be displayed on various places around your platform, including the main navigation menu and on the log-in/sign-up pages.

Title

The title of your platform is displayed when it's listed in search engines, or shared on social media. Most creators pick a version of their platform name (Title will automatically display your Platform Name if left empty), but is shown as a separate option, should you like to add something else.

Description

The description is also displayed when your platform is listed on search engines or when shared on social media, just like the Title.

Your description, thumbnail, and title are what will be shown to members when viewing a link to your platform on social media. To the right of the customization menu, you'll see a preview.

This is what the platform above would look like when sent as a link on Discord.

Language

(Only available for the Modern platform theme) With this setting, you're able to change the language of your platform. This will translate everything from buttons, titles, page names, and other details around your platform into a language other than standard-enabled English.

Phone Number collection

(Only available for the Modern platform theme) With this setting, you're able to collect phone numbers from your members as they sign up for your platform.

Brand Color

Selecting a fitting brand color will give your platform a visual feel that plays along well with your brand. This color will be displayed on call-to-action buttons, page names, and other primary design aspects of your platform.

Logo

You can upload any type of logotype that represents your brand. It'll be displayed throughout your platform in various places. Depending on your platform, you might attach an icon logo, full logo, or image. We recommend trying a few different options (with both platform themes) to find a setup that works for you.

Logo display option:

  • Show only logo (Will display your logo individually)

  • Show logo and text (Will display your logo together with your Platform Name)

Thumbnail

Your platform thumbnail is the main image of your platform, it covers not only the majority of your log-in/sign-up pages but also any social sharing. Thumbnails scale for visitors' devices and screen size, we recommend not adding any text or objects in the thumbnail, but adding something that fits as a background and can be cropped or cut without loss of quality.

Platform Theme

There are two platform themes available, titled "Modern" and "Legacy". These themes have different layouts and designs, giving you the ability to pick one that suits your brand, target audience, and content.

The legacy theme has a traditional e-learning layout, whereas the newer theme has more of a modern design. All pages, such as the login/sign-up page, course player, and settings view are displayed differently based on what theme you pick. Below are a few examples.

Currency

Forento supports a range of international and local currencies. You'll see a complete list of available currencies based on your payment provider (Stripe/PayPal), location, and account type. Guide here: πŸ’Έ Changing the currency of your platform

Custom Email Account

There are a few transactional emails that are sent out to members of your platform on your behalf. Unless you connect a custom email account, these emails will be sent from a Forento sender address, and you won't be able to receive any replies.

You can connect a custom email account using SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol). To set up your email address with Forento, first gather your email provider's SMTP details (server address, port, username, and password). Then enter them into the modal shown within Forento. Test the configuration to ensure it's working, then save and apply the settings.
