What is the Native content type? What about Branded?

Native content types are replacing what you currently see as "Branded" in Copilot, and will be used to publish branded content moving forward. Native content types will now live within the parent brand’s Copilot instance (instead of the branded instance) which will provide branded content with all of the same tools that editorial currently has access to.

There are three Native Content Types: 1. Native Advertiser, 2. Native Article, and 3. Native Gallery.

What are the benefits of the new Native content types?

  • Native will inherit the parent brand’s Verso designs

  • Native is automatically excluded from editorial feeds

  • Native is discoverable via search and site search

  • Native content excluded from recirculation

What users can create Native content?

For legal and ethical reasons, editorial staff cannot create Native Content. Only users with Marketer/Sales permissions can create native content. These users cannot see editorial content or create editorial content either.

How do I create an Advertiser to associate with branded content?

You can create a Native Advertiser as a stand-alone asset or within the draft of its associated content type.

To create a Native Advertiser stand-alone:

  1. Select Advertiser from the Create dropdown.

  2. Fill in the name of the advertiser and the URL.

  3. Add the logo image. You can drag and drop it into the field, or browse your desktop to upload. You can also use a logo that was uploaded previously by clicking the magnifying glass icon, which will open the asset finder. Logos should be high resolution images (at least 1280 px wide) and on a transparent background.

  4.  Click save.

Now the Advertiser exists in Copilot and can be added to a piece of content.

To create an advertiser from within a draft: Start typing the name in the Advertiser field in the campaign section of the piece, then click "Add." Fill out the same information as above accordingly.

Next, customize your Advertiser byline/disclosure from the dropdown menu options within the native article or gallery.

After you select a byline, fill out the remainder of the form with the headline, dek, etc.
