Navigating the Gaia Web App
The Gaia web app uses a consistent layout across pages. This article describes what appears in each area of the screen.
Left Navigation
The left navigation lists the main sections of the app. The sections you see depend on your role. Common entries include:
Pantry: items, recipes, supplies, and products.
Menus: menu plans and school menus.
Production: the weekly production view and production records.
Orders: the orders dashboard and shopping.
Students: the student and staff roster and balances.
POS: terminals, templates, transactions, and sessions.
Reports: operational and compliance reports.
The navigation can be collapsed to icons only and expanded back using the button at the bottom.
Top Navigation Bar
The top bar shows the area you are in, the date or week being viewed, and any context-specific actions. On Menus and Production pages it also shows the time axis so the calendar day stays the same as you switch between schools, menu plans, and production records.
Page Body
Most pages have a list or table on the left and a detail panel that opens on the right when you click a row. Some pages, such as the weekly production view, use a card layout instead.
Toolbars and Menus
Many pages include a Tools menu and a three-dot menu. The Tools menu groups bulk actions such as Smart Forecast and Bulk Update Forecasts. The three-dot menu contains additional actions for the current item, such as exports and analysis reports.
Quick Search
Quick Search is available from any page in the web app and searches across items, recipes, supplies, and vendor products. See Finding Things Fast: Search, Filters, and Custom Views for details.
