Preparing Your Mic and Camera for an Event
Updated over a week ago

Before you join your first Gatheround, here are some tips to make sure your camera and mic will connect successfully:

  • Ensure any tools that use camera & mic (Microsoft Teams, Zoom, FaceTime, etc.) are completely closed out.

  • Use a supported browser: Safari, Chrome and Firefox are preferred. Browsers like Brave and Edge are less reliable and may cause issues connecting with Gatheround.

  • Share these configuration settings with your organization's IT department to whitelist our video provider, daily.co and gatheround.com to ensure access to our site isn’t blocked on your device. This step is especially important if you are using a VPN or if you know your company’s network may use firewalls to block new sites.

  • Test whether your camera and mic will be able to connect to Gatheround by testing your connection with this network testing page. This should take less than 30 seconds. If any of the tests “fail”, check to see if you’re connected to a VPN. If you are, turn off your VPN, and try again.

Pro tip: If you are a host, sending the above guidance to your participants before your next event is a great way to mitigate any tech issues during an event!
