The inventory table automates daily analysis, eliminating the need for manual spreadsheet work.

This guide will demonstrate the Saved Views feature, which allows you to create custom views by applying filters and selecting data points. Saved views make it simple and efficient to recreate the views in just 1 click, making analyzing data fast and easy.

Let's start with the basics.

Configuring the Inventory Table

The Inventory Table contains all of the information you could need on your products, and with the help of Filters and Data Columns, you can very easily adjust the information you see.

Genie offers a plethora of filters to choose from and they are broken down into two categories—Genie Filters and Shopify Filters.

Genie filters use the information stored within Genie to filter products, while Shopify filters use the raw data pulled from your Shopify store to do the same. Both filter types serve to narrow down the list of products displayed on your inventory table.

In addition to filters, Genie allows you to adjust the columns of data displayed within the table as well. The columns are nothing too complicated. Their main function is to ensure the data points you wish to view are displayed in a clean and easy-to-adjust manner.

But what does that look like in practice?

Setting Up Filters

Let's create a view that only shows products that are stocking out in the next 60 days with no incoming stock. We also don't care if they are active in Shopify.

To achieve this we must filter the products displayed in the table.

Step 1: First we want to remove the Shopify Status is Active filter. This will show us all products regardless of Shopify status.

Step 2: Select the filter for Stockout Date and set it to 'in the next 60 days., Now you should only be seeing products with stockout days that fall within the next 60 days.

Image

Step 3: Now select the filter In Transit and specify it as 'is empty.' Your list should now be significantly shorter than it was before. These remaining products are the ones you are interested in analyzing.

With just a few clicks we narrowed down your products to only the ones stocking out in 60 days or less and have no purchase orders in transit.

You can apply this same logic to filter your products by status, on hand, suppliers, locations, and more.

Customizing Your View

Now that we can only see the products that matter to our analysis, we can customize our view to show the relevant metrics.

For this view, we are interested in seeing:

  • Suppliers

  • Stockout date

  • Days to order

  • On hand

  • and Daily sales

Step 1: Start by pinning the product and variant columns. This will keep both columns visible when you scroll to the side. It's like freezing rows in Exel.

Image

Step 2: Hide all unnecessary columns by selecting the 'eye icon' to the right of the column name. You can also select 'hide all' to hide all columns beside product.

By default, all columns will be visible in the table.

Step 3: Ensure the columns you care about are visible. We want to see:

  • Suppliers

  • Stockout date

  • Days to order

  • On hand

  • and Daily sales

Step 4: You can further adjust the view by pinning, adjusting size, and reordering the columns to see all the data at once.

Now, together with the filters you should have a view that tells you everything you need to know about the products stocking out within 60 days. Your analysis may include information like what products will stockout first, or which products stocking out have the most sales.

Having this information available and up to date can help inform your decisions about what stock should be prioritized or what products may not need restocking because of poor sales.

Finalizing Your New View

The final steps in this process are to finalize your view and save it so you can access it more efficiently in the future.

After you have established your filters, and adjusted the columns to your liking you can click Save View. This will add your configuration to the list of views at the top of the table.

Additionally, we have added Templates to Genie. Templates are preconfigured safe views created based on customer feedback.

You can access them by selecting the Templates Button, selecting the template you want to use, and clicking Apply.
