Saved views are designed to save you time when building and viewing analyses. To that end, we constantly try to iterate on feedback to make our features better and easier to use.
In the case of saved views, we have heard from many of our clients that they want to be able to duplicate saved views they want to edit. So, we have made it possible to do just that, and in this guide, we will show you how it works.
Benefits
The main benefit of duplicating saved views is it allows you to alter views that you may already be using for analysis, without having to alter the original view.
This means that if you have a view showing you running low products with metrics on hand, grade, supplier, and location, you don't have to lose this view if you want to see what is in transit, cost values, and avg. daily sales. The ladder can be an alternative view alongside the original.
Duplicating views eliminates the need to start over by creating a new view or changing the one you already use—making switching between analyses easier and more efficient.
Now let's walk through how to duplicate the views.
Duplicating Views
First and foremost, you need to create a view, or you can use one of the templates Genie offers to get started. If you want to learn how to create a saved view, we have a guide just for you here.
Once you have your view created, duplicating it takes no more than 2 clicks.
Use your first click to select the 3 dots on the side of the view card.
Now, your second click can be used to select duplicate. And that's all there is to it. Simple, right? Now you will have the original and copied views that you can change how you see fit independently.
From here you can edit the columns or the filters to fit your needs then give it a new name and you've got yourself a new view that took half the time to create.
And just like that, you've got a whole new view with similar attributes to the original, but with a sprinkle of additional information. We hope you can use this process to create more specialized views in less time than creating one from scratch.
