We understand that privacy is important to you. While we’d love to delete everything the moment you leave, as a regulated financial institution, we have to follow certain rules.
To meet FCA (Financial Conduct Authority) and AML (Anti-Money Laundering) regulations, we keep specific information for five years after you close your overall Chip account. This helps us stay compliant and keep the financial system secure.
The details we’re required to keep include:
Transaction history
Account information (such as your contact details)
Onfido KYC (know your customer) checks and documents
Account logs
Once that five-year period ends, we'll permanently remove the rest of your data from our systems.
