Even if your account is linked to Chip and has been making successful saves, when processing a withdrawal or refunding a save, we may ask you to confirm your sort code and account number (8 digits).

Since saves and withdrawals operate in two different ways, we will need to confirm your account details to make sure your savings are sent back to the right place.

Much like when you buy something online, you use your long card number, but when you receive money from a friend you use your sort code and account number.

Secondly, if you have a ‘card connected only’ account (meaning you have not completed the bank connection), we may need you to confirm these account details in order to process the withdrawal manually.
