Pause exam button

Updated over a week ago

When students do not complete an exam before the end of class and teachers want to prevent students from continuing the exam outside of class, the Pause Exam button allows teachers to take back an exam or stop the exam. Students may continue at a later time, if the teacher allows.

In the class shown below, some students have completed the exam, and others are still working or have not started the exam. To take back the exam from the students, the teacher clicks the Pause Exam button.

When a teacher clicks the Pause Exam button, a modal opens with information. The exam will pause for students currently taking the exam and Auto-Accept will be turned off. To complete the process, teachers will click the red PAUSE EXAM button.

The status of student exams will change to Paused to indicate the student is no longer working on the exam. Auto-Accept will be disabled as well.

Students will see the following message and are placed in normal GMM practice.

To allow students to continue the exam at a later time, teachers may choose to enable Auto-Accept or simply allow students to request the exam and grant individual permission.

NOTE: When a student's exam has a status of Paused, the teacher could have paused the exam or the student could have closed the tab without handing in the exam. In each case, the student may only continue in the exam if the teacher grants permission or turns on Auto-Accept.
