Regranting policy

Updated over a week ago

Eligible Charity Not Signed Up with Change

  • If a charity is eligible to receive a grant but has not enrolled with Change, Our Change Foundation will proactively reach out through multiple channels:

    • Sending an official letter to the IRS-registered address

    • Emailing registered contacts

    • Contacting via LinkedIn

    • Making direct phone calls

  • If Our Change Foundation receives no response from the charity within 6 months, we will reach out to the merchant for regrant instructions from the list of charities enrolled with Change.

  • The merchant has up to 3 months to specify an alternative charity within the Change network.

  • If, after a total of 9 months, there is no response from the merchant, Our Change Foundation will regrant the funds to an enrolled charity with a mission similar to the donor’s original designation.

Charity Fails Eligibility Verification Standards

  • If a charity is ineligible due to verification issues (e.g., failing a state compliance check), they will have a 3-month window to restore good standing according to publicly accessible listings.

  • If the charity remains ineligible after the 3-month compliance period, Our Change Foundation will contact the merchant for regrant instructions from the list of compliant charities within Change’s network. The merchant has up to 3 months to provide guidance.

  • If no response is received from the merchant within this timeframe (6 months total), Our Change Foundation will reassign funds to a charity with a similar mission within the Change network.

Additional Regrant Considerations

  • Whenever possible, regranted funds will be directed to a charity that operates in a similar cause area as the donor’s originally recommended charity and has enrolled with Change.

  • In rare instances where the merchant does not provide guidance, and there are no similar-mission charities among those enrolled with Change, Our Change Foundation will prioritize charities with broad humanitarian missions or those addressing urgent needs, maintaining alignment with donor values.
