How often you scan is up to you. There's no minimum and no maximum, and IMIN works with whatever rhythm fits your life.
A good place to start: a daily check-in
If you're not sure where to begin, aim for one scan a day. Consistency is what helps most: scanning once a day for ten days tells IMIN far more than ten scans in a single day. Regular check-ins let IMIN learn your patterns, sharpen its accuracy, and have the right techniques ready when you need them. If you're going through a stressful stretch, 2 to 3 scans a day (morning, midday, evening) gives you a clearer picture of how your nervous system shifts.
When to scan
Regular check-ins:
Morning: see where you're starting the day
Midday: take a regulation break during work
Evening: transition from work to rest
In the moment:
When you feel unsettled or stressed
Before an important meeting or conversation
After a challenging situation, to help you regulate
When you want to feel more grounded
Between activities
What regular scanning unlocks
Some of IMIN's features build up as you scan:
Short Term Battery: activates after 3 scans
Long Term Battery: activates after 7 scans
Your report: available after 7 scans. It shows your most common state, your state by time of day, and your recent scans.
Sharper, more personal insights: the more you scan, the better IMIN understands your unique rhythms
Common rhythms
However you use it is fine. Some patterns people settle into:
The Daily Check-in: one scan a day, often at the same time, to track patterns
The Stress Responder: scanning mainly in hard moments for immediate support
The Explorer: a few scans through the day to see how their state changes
The Weekly Tracker: a few times a week for general awareness
It's your practice
There's no wrong frequency. Some days you'll want several scans, some days none, and both are fine. The best rhythm is the one that fits naturally into your life, helps you feel more regulated, and never feels like a chore. One mindful scan with a technique you actually complete is worth more than several rushed ones.
Getting started
Not sure? Try a daily check-in for a week, at different times of day. Notice how your state shifts and which techniques help most, then let that guide your rhythm from there.
