What is a recipe Yield?
Yields are a very important part of recipe creation. This is how we know how much is created from your recipe, whether that amount is one serving, a batch recipe that creates 30 servings or you have a specific weight or volume amount.
Why are yields important?
Filling in your recipe yield is required to:
Accurately display recipe costs
Use the Food Cost Calculator to show food cost% and profit.
Calculate nutrition information.
Show cost data in the menus feature.
How do I enter a yield?
At the top of your recipe you will see the section to fill in your yield.
Always enter a quantity and units for your yield.
Example yields are:
1 serving
1 Batch
5000 grams
3 Quarts
If you want to know the measured amount of your yield you can use the auto calculate yield function.

Why is there an error on my sub recipe when I use auto calculate yield?
This happens when the yield is set with a different unit of measure than the sub recipe. An example would be if your yield is in grams and your sub recipe calls for 1 serving of the recipe.
To fix this your sub recipe will need a UoM Equivalency to convert 1 serving to the weight or volume measure your are using as the yield units on your parent recipe. See video below for more.
If you encounter a 'missing unit conversion for the nutritional label' error in your sub-recipe, make sure to accurately define the weight equivalency. Open the sub-recipe causing the error, navigate to the UoM Equivalency tab, and add weight equivalencies like weight per piece or batch weight. Save the changes and refresh the parent recipe to resolve this issue.
I entered my yield why do I still get an error for nutrition.
Nutrition is calculated in weight measures. A UoM Equivalency will need to be set up on the recipe and potentially each ingredient or sub recipe to tell the app how much each is equal to in weight.

How to Resolve the 'Missing Unit Conversion for the Nutritional Label' Error for Sub-Recipes
If you encounter a 'missing unit conversion for the nutritional label' error when using sub-recipes as ingredients, this guide will help you understand why the issue occurs and how to fix it.
Why Does This Error Occur?
Nutritional calculations are based on weight measures. If a sub-recipe uses a count-based unit (e.g., "1 pc") and there is no defined weight equivalency, meez cannot compute the nutrition label. This commonly happens when weight per piece(each) or total batch weight is not specified, leaving the app without enough information to perform accurate nutritional analysis.
Steps to Resolve the Issue
Follow these steps to define weight equivalency for your sub-recipe and eliminate the error:
Open the Sub-Recipe:
Locate and open the sub-recipe that is causing the error.
Edit the Sub-Recipe:
Click on Edit to make changes to the sub-recipe.
Navigate to the UoM Equivalency tab.
Disable Standard Conversion:
Turn off the Standard Weight–Volume Conversion option. This setting prevents the system from using default estimates for conversions.
Define Weight Equivalencies:
Option 1: Specify how much 1 each weighs (e.g., 1 each = x grams).
Option 2: Enter the total batch weight and the number of pieces in the batch (e.g., 30 pieces weigh y grams). meez will use this information to calculate the weight per piece.
Save Changes:
Save the updated sub-recipe by clicking Done.
Refresh the Parent Recipe:
If the sub-recipe is linked to a parent recipe, make sure to refresh the parent recipe. This allows the nutritional labels to update with the resolved error.
Additional Tips
Ensure that all sub-recipes using count-based units have accurate weight equivalencies specified.
Regularly review your sub-recipe setup to avoid similar errors in future nutritional label calculations. By following these steps, you can accurately calculate nutritional labels and prevent issues tied to "missing unit conversion" errors.
