Quick Summary

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra security step when logging in to Trail. In addition to your password, you’ll need a 6-digit code generated by an authenticator app on your mobile phone. This code refreshes every 30 seconds and helps protect your account from unauthorised access.

Once 2FA is enabled:

  • You’ll log in with your password + a 6-digit code

  • The code comes from an Authenticator app on your phone

  • Even if someone knows your password, they can’t log in without your phone

What You’ll Learn in This Guide

  • What 2FA is and how it works

  • What you need before setting it up

  • How to set up 2FA using Google Authenticator

  • How to set up 2FA using Microsoft Authenticator

What Is Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)?

2FA is a security feature that requires two things to log in:

  1. Something you know → your Trail password

  2. Something you have → a 6-digit code from your phone

Authenticator apps generate a new 6-digit code every 30 seconds, making your account much more secure.

What You Need Before You Start

You’ll need an Authenticator app installed on your mobile device.

Recommended Apps

You can use either:

  • Google Authenticator

  • Microsoft Authenticator

Helpful Tips💡

  • If you get a new phone, you’ll need to re-set up 2FA

Use only one authenticator app per account
