Why Connect Your Google Email?
When you integrate your Gmail account with Trail:
Emails you send and receive with clients will automatically appear in the client’s profile.
Trail will scan your email for the last 7 years of history (where possible) to back‑fill client communications.
You can compose and send emails straight from Trail using your Gmail address
Step‑by‑Step: Connecting Gmail to Trail
1. Go to Settings > Personal Settings > Email Integration
Navigate to Settings.
Click Email Integration.
Select Connect with Gmail.
2. Sign In with Your Google Account
A Google Sign‑In window will appear.
Select the Gmail address you want to connect with Trail.
If you don't see it, choose Use another account and enter the correct email and password
3. Grant Permissions
To integrate successfully, Google will ask you to allow access. You’ll see two main types of permissions:
✅ Permission to share basic account information (name and email)
✅ Permission to access (read), compose, and send emails from your Gmail account
👉 Note: Even though the permission dialogue may say the app can read and manage emails, Trail does not delete any emails from your Gmail — that wording comes from Google’s authentication system
4. Confirm Connection
After granting permission:
You’ll be redirected back to Trail’s email integration page.
You should see a confirmation that your Gmail account is connected. Intercom
🎉 At this point, your email integration is live!
5. Google Security Alert
After connecting, you may receive a “Security Alert” email from Google notifying you that Trail now has access to your account.
This is normal and simply confirms that you granted the access.
