What do I need before I connect my Gmail to Trail?
Before you connect your Gmail or Google Workspace mailbox to Trail, check that:
You are logged in to Trail
You can sign in with Google
Pop-ups are allowed in your browser, because the Google sign-in opens in a new window
How do I connect my Gmail or Google Workspace email to Trail?
Follow these steps in Trail to connect your own Gmail or Google Workspace mailbox.
In Trail, click Settings, then select Email Integration
Click Connect with Gmail
In the Google sign-in window that opens, select the Gmail address you want to connect to Trail. If the address you want is not listed, choose Use another account and sign in with it
Allow the two permissions Google asks for: permission to share your basic account information (your name and email address), and permission to read, compose, and send emails from your Gmail account
Check that you have been redirected back to Trail's Email Integration page and that it confirms your Gmail address is connected
If the Email Integration page still shows Gmail as not connected, repeat steps 2 to 4. If it still will not connect, contact support@gettrail.com.
Once your Gmail integration is connected, Trail scans your mailbox for new client emails about every 45 minutes and files them against matching client profiles. On the first connection, Trail also runs a 7-year historic scan of your mailbox, so existing client emails from the past 7 years are filed for record-keeping. For more on what Trail syncs and why, see How Trail's Email Integration Works.
Why did Google email me a security alert after connecting?
After you connect your Gmail mailbox to Trail, Google may send you a security alert email telling you that Trail now has access to your Google account. This alert is normal, and it simply confirms that you granted that access yourself. No action is needed.
Is there a video guide for connecting Gmail to Trail?
