How to bring together multiple applicants to a loan

Note: we are basing this on a scenario for 3 friends looking to purchase a property together.

In this article you will learn the process to take when you have multiple applicants applying for a loan together, but currently live separately.

Step 1: Have 3 individual profiles for each participant:

To get started, ensure that each participant has their own individual profile in Trail and create a new Mortgage Advice Opportunity for each of them (you can archive these opportunities later on). Ideally, creating the Opportunity to be'' Fact Find Only''.

Send each participant the Fact Find link to be completed.

This enables you to be able to send each individual their own link to the Fact Find, so they can complete this without seeing each others information - if required.

Step 2: Create a new joint profile for all 3 participants:

Head to your Contacts tab, and click ''Add Contact'' selecting ''Add New Profile''

You want to select ''Existing Contact'' and type in one of the participants names and select them, then select ''as part of a personal situation'' to create the new profile.

From that new profile, you want to add the other 2 participants to the Contacts section (selecting Add Contact and selecting Existing Contact) to complete the Joint Profile.

Step 3: Rename the new Joint Profile:

It's a good idea to rename this profile so you can differentiate between which one is the Joint Profile and which one is their own separate profiles in Trail. Do this by clicking the 'Actions' button next to the profile name, ''rename profile' and then click the tick circle to save it.

Step 4: Create a new opportunity in the joint application:

On the Joint Profile, please click ''Add Opportunity'' and set up the opportunity as normal. Now that you have added the participants into the joint profile, and they have previously completed their fact finds in their separate profiles, this will pull through all their fact find information into the new opportunity you create and you can now complete the application as normal πŸŽ‰

Note: Documents will not pull through into the Joint profile from the participants individual profiles in Trail. That is why as mentioned above, we recommend you ask them to complete Fact Find Only, instead of also Document Request. Then ask them to email you their documents instead. Through the email integration this will allow the documents to appear in the Joint Profile for all participants.
