Trail now features Custom Automations πŸŽ‰ These automations can be set up to run whenever an opportunity lands in a Pipeline Stage - including your own custom stages!

To access this feature, you will need business admin enabled πŸ‘
A blue arrow will appear near the top of your pipeline once you have access.

If you feel as though you should have access to Custom Automations but do not, please email us at support@gettrail.com πŸ‘ To enable business admin access for any account, we will also need written confirmation from your business' director.

What are Custom Automations?

Custom Automations are actions that can be triggered whenever a opportunity tile lands within a specific Pipeline Stage. In short, as you move your opportunity through your process, you can set Trail up to perform custom actions. These will work on every pipeline that you have available in Trail and across the business. This means that the automations you create will effect all users in your organisation, ensuring that everyone is on the same page when it comes to your business workflow.

What Kinds of Custom Automations Can I Create?

On launch, we are releasing the two most popular requests we've received for this feature:

This means that you can trigger an activity to be created or an email to be sent once it lands within a certain stage.

How to Create Custom Automations

Here's how you can get started:

1. Click the blue arrow at the top of your Pipeline to go to the new revamped Pipeline Settings ✨

2. Select the Pipeline you want to edit from the dropdown box here:

3. Ensure you've set up the default automation for completed Fact Finds πŸ‘ You can do this at the top where you can also edit your stages: (this automation is a bit different from the custom ones, it determines where all opportunities go after the client has submitted their Fact Find)

4. Click Create Automation at the bottom left, seen here:

5. Select the Pipeline Stage you want to be the "trigger" of the automation, then select what kind of automation you want to run along with an accompanying template: (remember to click Save when done)

  • For Emails - you will need to select a template that is a shared "Org Template"

  • For Activities - you can select from your organisation's Activity Types

6. After you are done, it will appear at the bottom of your Custom Automations, seen here:

Can I Create Multiple Actions per Automation?

Yes! You can create multiple actions per stage πŸ‘ This means that if you set up both an email and an activity to be triggered once an opportunity lands in a stage, then both of these will run as soon as the opportunity is moved. Just click Add New Action here:

Can I Turn Off Automations without Deleting Them Fully?

Yes! We know that across a team, you'll have people go on leave or your business will take a break over the holiday period. You can turn off automations if there's any reason you don't want them running, but you don't want to fully delete them. This way, you can turn them back on whenever suits you best πŸ‘ To do so, just click the off button next to each automation here:
