Sending a Mortgage Fact Find & Document Request

For Mortgage Advice processes, learn more about the two types of Fact Find links you can send that will affect whether your client also uploads their documents straight after the Fact Find or not!

What is a Fact Find + Document Request?

In Trail for clients being sent the Fact Find link for Mortgage Advice - it could either be a link to:

  • Only complete the Fact Find portion OR

  • To complete the Fact Find + Documents Request, to upload related documents for the application

There are advantages and disadvantages to consider of both -

Reasons you may want to send a Fact Find Only

  • This means that you can review the Fact Find first, check with your client they haven't missed anything important, and then procure your Documents Request list from that conversation.

Reasons you may want to send a Fact Find + Document Request

  • Your client does everything in one go - the information they fill out in the Fact Find will impact the Document Request list that they see at the end of the Fact Find
    e.g. First Home Buyer - will ask for Kiwisaver documents.

  • Any outstanding documents or other documents needed can be requested afterwards as separate Document Request email(s).

When and Where to set this?

You will be asked to identify whether you want a "Fact Find Only" or a "Fact Find + Document Request" whenever you FIRST create an Opportunity.

Where to Change this Option?

When you send a Fact Find, and if you can't remember what you set it as when you first created the Opportunity, you can click into the Opportunity under "Applications" -

Then go to the Opportunity Summary page where you can view this or change it to be the other -

After that you can then send the Fact Find once you're sure what kind of link your client will recieve! πŸ‘

Sending Client Register links

By default when your client does a client register via your website and starts a Fact Find by themselves, it will be a Fact Find + Document Request for them. This means Trail will always take them through to upload Documents.
