We understand that there are many unique workflows across advice businesses, especially when it comes to presenting your advice to your client. Therefore, we've created several different approaches which take every major workflow into consideration, making your advice work well across any situation you can think of π
Our team has taken heavy inspiration from our Interactive Mortgage Recommendation page in addition to some great feedback on our Insurance SOA. This has allowed us to craft a dynamic experience for you and your clients which fits in seamlessly with their client Dashboard β¨
In this article you will learn:
How to Present your Advice Digitally (with no face to face interaction)
How to Present your Advice In Person (with face to face interaction)
How to Present your Advice On Paper or Email
Please note that with all of these options, it is assumed that you have
finalised your client's SOA and are ready for them to view its contents.
How to Present your Advice Digitally
We consider this approach to be the most efficient time-wise, as it allows your clients to explore your recommendation in their own time at their own pace.
To start this process, you must first activate their client page by clicking the Active button here in the Statement of Advice section:
This will then activate the page and allow them to view it from their own client login π
Next, you'll want to send them a link which will take them directly to their recommendation. There's two ways to do this:
OPTION 1: Click Email Link to Client to bring up a Trail email template (which you may customise in your Settings). This pop-up can be customised if you would like to add in additional custom text or if you want to attach a bespoke file. When your client clicks the Click here button, they will be taken to their recommendation page.
OPTION 2: You may use the Copy Link button to copy a link which will take your clients directly to their recommendation. You may then paste this into an email outside of Trail to send to your client.
After you have sent your client the link using either of those two options, they will log in to their dashboard and see this:
They'll then click on View Recommendation, which will bring up a static version of the SOA document you have created:
Within the Recommendation view, your client is free to adjust the graphs to test different scenarios/situations and the potential outcomes. However, they do not have the ability to edit the document itself, which only you can do while in the Statement of Advice Editor.
At the bottom of the document is where they can confirm they are happy to proceed with your advice, as well as their contribution rate. They can even sign off on the document too!
Once they click Submit new KiwiSaver Structure, you'll receive a copy back to your integrated Trail email and you're all good to go π
How to Present your Advice In Person
If you are an adviser who prefers to take your client through your advice individually, you may want to have a meeting to discuss your advice in-person. Trail makes this super easy, all you have to do is press this Present SOA button here:
This will open up a brand new tab that displays an un-editable version of your SOA document. You can then use this to go through each part of your advice as well as demonstrate different situations yourself using the graphs and tools available.
We've designed this view to mimic the same setup as if your client were going through the advice digitally, so the graphs will dynamically change as you or your client alters them.
At the end of the document, your client will be able to digitally sign off on the advice and provide confirmation of their contribution rate.
How to Present your Advice On Paper or Email
We understand that some advisers prefer to go over their advice on paper, or send through their documents via email for their clients to review π Doing this is quick and simple in Trail.
After you have finalised how you want your SOA to look (from the View & Edit screen), click the Export Document button at the bottom left, seen here:
Download PDF - This will download a copy of the SOA as it currently looks and place it into your designated Downloads folder. You may then print this out.
Email PDF as attachment - This will bring up an email pop-up using your KiwiSaver Statement of Advice Document email template as a basis, which you can further customise if needed.
Either of these options work well if you do not want to use the interactive elements. However, please take care in ensuring you've gotten your graphs to look appropriate, as exporting the document will capture the current state of the SOA including those diagrams.
After presenting your advice and implementing it with your chosen provider, it's a good opportunity to close off the application. Here's how you can!
