Analyze competitors & adapt their strategy

The workflow for studying competitors in your niche — find their winners, analyze the patterns, and write original content using proven structures.

Studying competitors is the fastest way to figure out what actually works in your niche. This workflow pulls their top content, finds the patterns, and writes original scripts using those patterns, in your voice, not theirs.

What you'll get

  • Top-performing videos from any competitor

  • Pattern analysis (hooks, structures, CTAs, formats)

  • Original scripts adapted to your brand, not copy-paste theirs

  • Comments insight — what their audience actually cares about

The workflow

Step 1 — Find competitor content

Option A: Inspiration page

  1. Go to Inspiration → Search tab.

  2. Search your topic (e.g., "fitness coaching").

  3. Hover on promising videos → Add to Chat.

Option B: Chat directly

"Find the top 10 viral TikToks about [your topic] from the past 30 days. Show me what you find."

Option C: Analyze specific competitors

"Analyze @[competitor1], @[competitor2], @[competitor3]. Pull their top 10 posts each from the past 3 months."

Option D: Profile Analyst deep-dive

Go to Profile Analyst, analyze an Instagram competitor, sort by Most Views, add top 10 posts to chat.

Step 2 — Ask Vamos to find the patterns

Once you have 5–15 videos in chat, prompt:

"Analyze what makes these videos viral. Break down the hooks, structures, storytelling techniques, and CTAs. What do they have in common?"

You get a structured breakdown you can actually act on.

Step 3 — Pull comments for audience insight

"Now analyze the top comments on these videos. What are people asking about? What objections or confusion comes up?"

This is new — Vamos can pull and analyze comments from TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. It shows you what the audience is actually saying, which is often more useful than what the creator is saying.

Step 4 — Write original scripts using the patterns

"Now write me 5 scripts using the winning patterns but for my brand. Keep my voice, use the proven hook structures from these videos."

Each script opens in its own Canvas for individual editing. Your Brand Voice is loaded automatically — outputs won't sound like your competitors.

Step 5 — Iterate

After reviewing scripts, refine:

"Script #3 is too similar to theirs. Make it more distinctive while keeping the hook pattern."

Or highlight a line in Canvas and edit just that section.

All-in-one prompt (the efficient version)

Chain every phase into one prompt — Vamos uses a cheap model for research and switches to Claude for writing automatically:

"Analyze @[competitor handle]'s last 30 days of Reels. Find their top 5 outliers. Transcribe each one, break down the hook, structure, and format. Pull the top comments on each to find audience patterns. Then write me 3 scripts inspired by their best-performing patterns but in my voice and for my audience."

This is the single most powerful prompt in the Vamos playbook. Use it whenever you want to break into a niche quickly.

Variations for different goals

Find similar competitors you didn't know about:

"Analyze @[competitor] and show me 10 similar accounts in the same space. Which are worth watching?"

Compare messaging across competitors:

"Analyze @competitor1, @competitor2, and @competitor3. How do they differ in positioning, hook style, and CTAs? Which approach is resonating most?"

Find gaps in the market:

"What topics are all these competitors talking about? What important topics are they NOT covering that my audience would care about?"

Analyze what didn't work:

"Sort @[competitor]'s Instagram by Least Views. What are their worst-performing posts? What do they have in common? What should I avoid?"

Why this beats "I'll just guess what works"

  • You learn from proven winners instead of experimenting blind

  • Pattern recognition catches things you'd miss scrolling manually

  • Original content — your outputs are inspired by patterns, not copied from videos

  • Your voice — Brand Voice loads automatically, so outputs are distinctive to you

  • Comments — you're optimizing for what audiences actually care about, not just what creators think they care about

Tips

  • Analyze 10+ videos, not 3. You need pattern density to find real signal.

  • Mix top and bottom performers. Seeing what didn't work is as useful as seeing what did.

  • Pull comments. Audience reactions often reveal things the creators haven't figured out yet.

  • Don't copy — adapt. Vamos handles this automatically if your Brand Voice is set up.
