How to setup a chat widget in your website

Updated over 4 months ago

1. Introduction to the WhatsApp Widget

The WhatsApp widget is an interactive bubble that allows for inbound conversations on a website (mobile or desktop).
Typical use cases: customer support, commercial recommendations, and purchase advice.

2. Access and Installation

Usage Recommendations:

  • Mobile Site: Prioritize installation on the mobile version of the site, as WhatsApp is primarily used on phones.

  • Desktop Site: Avoid using it on desktop if the WhatsApp application is not installed, as this might redirect users to a download page, leading to a higher bounce rate.

3. Widget Customization

Customizable Elements:

  • Appearance:

    • Background color.

    • Widget size and height.

  • Call-to-Action (CTA):

    • Text displayed on the widget button.

  • Brand Identity:

    • Brand name.

    • Brand subtitle.

    • Brand image displayed on the widget.

  • Personalized Messages:

    • Welcome text shown when a user is redirected to WhatsApp.

    • Pre-recorded messages triggered automatically in WhatsApp to engage in conversations or launch automations (e.g., customer support).

4. Installing the Widget on Your Site

  1. Click the “Copy Code Snippet” button at the top-right of the page.

  2. Paste the code into your e-commerce website.
