A scene saves the camera angle and layer visibility you are looking at right now, so you can return to it later. See What is a Scene? for exactly what gets captured.
Open the Scenes panel
Scenes live in their own panel, the same way Layers and Properties do. It is not part of any default layout, so add it the first time through the panel picker. See Add an App for the full walkthrough.
Set the camera angle and layers
Before you capture, set up the map the way you want the scene to remember it. Pan, zoom, tilt, and rotate the map to the camera angle you want. Then open the Layer Palette and turn layers on or off so only the ones you want are visible. A scene saves exactly what the map shows at the moment you capture it.
Capture a scene
Click the plus icon in the Scenes panel header. Its tooltip reads Capture the current map as a new scene. Giraffe captures the current camera position, layer visibility, and a small preview image, and adds it to the list.
If the panel has no scenes yet, click Capture scene in the empty state instead.
See Navigate to a Scene to fly back to a scene you have captured.
