A flow that only makes sense on a parcel shouldn't be drawable as a point, and a parking flow should start every new lot with the same usage and bay settings. Flow properties are part of the flow definition, alongside its flow graph. They control which shapes a flow can be drawn with and which property values every new geometry drawn with it starts with.
Why edit the flow properties?
Setting a flow's default properties ensures the flow renders correctly immediately upon drawing. Make sure to set any defaults that are required, like usage, levels, and custom properties.
Open a flow's properties
Open a flow's properties from the Flow Editor or from the Content Library.
Flow Editor: with the flow open, click the More options button (three dots) in the toolbar, then choose Edit properties…. The Flow properties window opens.
Content Library: open the Content Library, then click the flow in your project's flows. Its details open in a modal within the panel.
The Flow Properties panel appears:
Edit name and description
Update a flow's name to change what shows in the Flow tool selector in the draw bar.
Add a detailed description to help people understand what to use it for and find it in the content library.
Choose which shapes a flow can be drawn with
Check the shapes you want under Allowed geometries: Point, Line, or Polygon. Hover over each icon to see its name. Checking Polygon allows both polygons and rectangles.
The shape picker offers only the allowed shapes when you draw with the flow from the Flow Features tool. Drawing starts with the first shape you checked.
Keep at least one shape checked. A flow with no allowed geometries can't be drawn.
Set a flow's default properties
Default properties are the values every new geometry drawn with the flow starts with. Set them on the Defaults tab.
Click Add Property to add a default property.
Turn on Usage and pick a usage to give every new geometry that usage.
Edit a value in its field to change that default.
Click the remove button next to a property to delete that default.
Save flow property changes
Click Save Changes to save. Giraffe doesn't save flow properties automatically, and closing with unsaved changes asks you to confirm before discarding them.
New defaults apply to geometries you draw from now on. Geometries already drawn with the flow keep their current values.
