Site assemblies and master plans often cover several parcels. Group each parcel's drawing layers in the Layer Palette so you can show, lock, select, or copy a whole parcel's scheme in one click.
Create a drawing layer for each parcel
Right-click empty space in the Layer Palette.
Choose Add drawing layer.
Name the layer after the parcel or the use, like "Lot 3 Residential".
Group drawing layers
Drag one layer onto another layer to make a group. Giraffe creates a new group holding both layers and lets you type its name right away. Name the group after the parcel. Drag more layers into the group to add them.
Work with a parcel group
Right-click a layer group to see its actions:
Show or Hide turns the whole parcel on or off.
Hide others shows only this parcel.
Lock group locks every layer in the parcel. Choose Unlock group to edit again.
Select all selects every geometry in the parcel.
Zoom to bounds zooms the map to the parcel.
Rename changes the group name.
Copy a parcel's scheme
Right-click a layer group and choose Duplicate drawing layers. Giraffe copies the group and its drawing layers into a new group with "_copy" added to the name. Use the copy to test another option for the same parcel.
Delete a parcel group
Right-click the layer group and choose Delete group. Turn on delete children in the confirmation to also delete the layers and geometries inside the group. Leave it off to remove only the group.
🚨 Warning: With delete children turned on, every drawing layer and geometry in the group is deleted.
