When you change a block definition, all of the instances of that block instantly inherit the changes.

Start Editing

To start editing a Block instance, add it to the canvas.

Double click on a block instance in the project.

Or, click "edit block" in the properties palette.

Or, right click and select "Edit Block"

The Block Editor interface appears:

  • The map canvas has a blue outline

  • Every geometry that is not the selected instance is greyed-out

  • A special modal displays the inherited properties of the instance

Edit Block Geometry

Use any of the drawing tools, like control points, extruding, copying, rotating, etc.

Once you are happy with the edits, click Save.

All of the other instances of the block definition will inherit the updates.

Edit Block Basepoint

The Block basepoint is where the block instance is placed on the point.

By default, when you create a new block, the basepoint generates at the centroid of the original geometry.

You might want the basepoint to be in another location.

When editing a block, notice the coordinates widget. This denotes the block basepoint.

To change how the block geometry aligns to the basepoint, select the geometry and move it while in block edit mode.

When you save the changes, all of the block instances inherit the edits.

Edit Block Definition Properties

Block properties are inherited by the instance. Apply a Usage, and/or add properties like levels, floor to floor, or appearance as you would for a typical geometry.
