Form V2 Multi-Give Enhancements
Previously with Multi-Give, the only way for donors to write in their own fund designation was to have a set "Other" option within the selection menu and then a text question in a different section on the form for the donor to enter in the desired fund designation. However, with Form V2 and the Multi-Give feature, donors have the ability to write in their own fund designation within the same selection menu, if your organization chooses to enable the Donor Specified Category.
Donor Specified Category
The Donor Specified Category is a feature that you can enable on the Multi-Give form that does allow the donor to write in their own fund designation and have it populate within reporting in the same column as all the others.
On the Multi-Give form itself, the donor can add an "Other" fund designation at the Parent-Level and, if you're using parent-child categorization, at the Child-Level.
Examples:
Within the dropdown menu, there will be an "Other" option that the donor can select:
Which will then open an "Other" text field for the donor to type in their own fund designation:
You can even select a main Parent fund first, and have an "Other" child fund designation:
Reporting
Within Reports, the way to add the fund designation (donation designee) for Multi-Give form submissions is via the Donation Designee Label column under the Registration Type/Donation Level category:
This is the same even for the Donor Specified Category where the donor writes-in their own value, so there isn't a separate column that your team will need to add to your reports!
The report results will show the typed-in value that the donor supplied during their form submission within this column:
Enabling the Donor Specified Category
If you're interested in allowing your donors to provide their own fund designation, you can enable the Donor Specified Category under the Donation Levels section of the form.
The first section, Donation Question, is where this setting lives:
Click the edit button for that section, and next to Donor Specified Category select "Yes":
Then you can add in your own custom label for how the "Other" category shows up within the dropdown menu:
Note: you can leave this as "Other."
Save the changes, and then the Donor Specified Category should populate on your form!
