Switchboard Messenger, better experience on mobile, and little perks when discovering roles

New Features

Switchboard Messenger (Beta) 🎉

We are excited to introduce Switchboard Messenger, a peer-to-peer messaging system that enables skilled believers and Great Commission organizations to communicate directly on Switchboard.

Key features include:

  • Consultation Conversations: Automatically create a conversation in Switchboard Messenger when two users are connected for a one-hour consultation, allowing them to send and receive messages from each other.

  • Optimized Experience: Designed for an excellent experience on both mobile and desktop platforms.

  • Email Notifications:

    • Initial Connection: Users receive an invitation to start messaging when initially connected.

    • Unread Messages: Email alerts for unread messages if users are offline, ensuring they know when to respond.

  • Easy Navigation: New navigation features make it easy to find your inbox and know if you have an unread message.

  • Clear Communication: Updated copyediting throughout the app highlights Switchboard Messenger as the primary platform for most conversations.

Beta Feature: Switchboard Messenger is in beta. That means it will only be available for a subset of connections on Switchboard. You can learn more about our beta rollout and expectations here

Enhancements

Mobile Optimization

Significant improvements have been made to enhance the mobile experience.

What will you notice? Certain screens and interactions where you previously had to pinch and zoom around to see the display have been fixed.

  • Interface Adjustments: Systematic retooling of most screens to ensure they look and function great on mobile devices.

  • Minimum Width Issues: Addressed and resolved issues related to minimum width requirements across the app.

Virtual Role Discovery

Introducing a new feature for easier role discovery:

Fresh Role Prioritization: Recently requested roles now appear at the top of the list, making it easier to find new the newest opportunities to serve on Switchboard.

Minor Updates

Auto-Scroll for Profile Enhancement

Profile Auto-Scroll: Kingdom Consultants prompted to enhance their profiles for new opportunities are now auto-scrolled to the most impactful section including their bio and profile picture.

Code cleanup

You won't be able to see it, but we tidied up our codebase some to keep things running smoothly and easier to maintain.
