Backup of your unsaved changes
In case you forget to save or lose power on your laptop, we auto-save while you are editing and keep a backup of that information. The backup is short term data and will be erased eventually. Only when you exit edit mode, the changes are saved and kept long term.
Change log
You will find recent changes if they are a backup or a previous version in the change log from the toolbar.
Restore attributes
Make sure you activate edit mode first. Then open "Change log" and mouse over the backup, revision or version you wish to restore from and click on the preview link to see the content from the specific time. Note that the content will reflect the page you are on - e.g. if you are in the process editor, you will see the process map, but if you are in one of the activity pages, you will see the "why" and "how" for that activity.
Now click the "Select attributes to restore" button.
This will bring up a screen where you for each attribute can select whether to restore the previous process map or activity, or to keep the latest modifications.
If you open the restore windows from the process editor, all attributes for the process and each activity will be pre-selected, while if you open the window from an activity, only the "why" and "how" the specific activity are pre-selected.
If the attribute is selected, you will restore the previous version and if it is de-selected you will keep the current one. The selected one will also have a tick mark in the upper left corner. Note however, that you cannot make a selection by clicking one the picture of the process map.
Activities that are only included in one of the versions will always be kept. If for example you revert to a version with fewer activities, the activities that have later been added, will not be deleted. You can tell if an activity is kept, as the button will be locked in either current or previous mode. You can of course still delete them in the process editor.
The restore window allows you to granularly select which elements from a previous version you would like to restore to.
Restoring specific activities
Should you wish to restore a specific activity without affecting the rest of the diagram - maybe you deleted an activity, made lots of changes to the diagram and then realized that you needed the activity after all - don't worry, it happens, and we've got you π
All you have to do is:
Turn edit mode on (process diagram)
Click the activity restore icon
Choose the activity that you want to restore
Place the activity in the correct position in the diagram
Easy, right?!
