Adding an Objective
To add an Objective, begin by navigating to the team you would like to assign the objective to by clicking on the team name on the left-hand side of your screen. Haven't created your teams yet? Be sure to check out this article first.
From the Team Page, click “+ Add Objective" on the upper right-hand side.
Not seeing the option to Add an Objective? Remember, in order to add an objective to a team, you must be a member of that team or an Admin user in your Elate account.
Name your objective and click “Submit.”
You will then see your Objective Modal. From this page you can:
Add or Link Outcomes to your Objective to help you track your progress and stay on track.
Add practical next steps to your Objective by creating "Tactics".
Edit details to your Objective on the right-hand side including adding any Supporting Teams, Objective Owners, level of effort, etc.
Collaborate with your team by adding comments.
Adding Key Results is typically the best place to start to begin tracking progress towards your Objective. Key Results can either be an Outcome (think: measurable result) or a Tactic (think: practical sub-project to help tackle the broader objective).
Begin by selecting "Add Outcome" to the right of "Outcomes". You can also select "Link Outcome" to choose to add an existing Outcome to your Objective.
You will then see the option to add visual representations of your Outcome. Give your Outcome a name, choose the chart that works best for your Objective, and press "Create" in the bottom right.
Next, select "Update" on the bottom left to customize the chart with your goals and data.
Set goals you want to track for this key result. Goal values are what numbers you hope to achieve, and the current values are what the numbers actually are right now. Press "Save" when you're done!
You have now successfully created an Objective with an Outcome! Add as many Outcomes and Tactics you'd like to guide your team to success.
Note: if you are the Org Admin of your Elate account, you will also be able to add an Objective by navigating to your "Plan Execution" tab, selecting "Objectives", and choosing "+Add" in the upper right-hand corner.
